I can’t believe it’s already been a month since my last post! I try to post travel tips or destination reviews more often, but the month of December caught up to me with all the holiday stuff, kids being home from school, sick people, and all the things. But I’m back!
But first, here’s what we’ve been up to for the past month.
Grinch Party
We had our annual Grinchmas celebration! We have a Who Feast of roast beast, who pudding (jello), who hash (cheesy potatoes), and grinch fruit kabobs. We also watch the movie and have some sort of grinch-themed activity. This year was minute to win it games! We look forward to this fun tradition!
Decorating the tree
I love to get Christmas ornaments as a souvenir from the places we travel. It’s so fun to pull them out each year and relive all the memories!
Christmas performances
Seems like there’s a Christmas performance for everything! Haha! We enjoyed Katie’s little dance performance this year. She’s been working hard in her dance class!
Playing in the snow
The first few snowfalls are always so exciting! I’m not a huge fan of winter, but the kids love a fresh snowfall.
Christkindlmarkt
We visited our first Christkindlmarkt this year in Salt Lake City, and it was so fun. This was the only picture I took, but this waffle was delicious and worth being the only thing photographed. Haha! It makes me want to visit the originals in Germany though!
Visiting my alma mater
My grandma lives near my alma mater, Brigham Young University, so I took my kids to explore the campus on the way to visit Grandma. They loved seeing all the flags, exploring the bookstore, and of course, enjoying ice cream from the Creamery! And I enjoyed visiting my old stomping grounds and showing the kids where I used to live/work/study/etc. I spent 7 years of my life there…4 as a student and 3 as an administrator!
Christmas around the world
We enjoyed Christmas around the world, courtesy of Universal Yums. We ordered the medium Christmas box and it came with 11 holiday snacks/treats from around the world. It was super fun to try them all and learn about the traditions that come with the foods. My favorite was the dulce de leche plum cake from Argentina!
Christmas cookies
What’s Christmas without baking? We made a few different kinds of Christmas cookies….frosting, sprinkles, mess and all. It’s the one time of year I agree to this! Ha!
Chuck E Cheese
My kids LOVE Chuck E Cheese, and they got a gift card from Grandma so we had to oblige.
Crystal Hot Springs
We spent a day during the break at Crystal Hot Springs. It’s about an hour north of Salt Lake City, and a fun way to spend a winter day. They have several different pools of varying temperatures and some fun waterslides as well. Bring lots of water…you’ll need it!
Christmas
And of course, we had a great Christmas!
New Year’s Eve
Matt and I went to Southern California for the Rose Bowl/Parade. I’ll do a separate post about that. But we spent New Year’s Eve getting my favorite Disney treats at Downtown Disney (beignets…yummmm) and riding beach cruisers around Newport Beach. Disney and the beach are 2 of my favorite things, so it was fun spending the last day of 2021 with a taste of both!
And that’s a wrap! It was a fun break, but I’m ready to get back to some routine. I’ll have my weekly posts back! What did your holiday break look like?
